We are looking for people to volunteer for our andolans and campaigns round the year. This could involve working on specific issues or campaigns. This could also mean contributing through your specific skill sets in your own time. For instance, you may choose to help out with daily logistics and documentation while experiencing NAPM. If you are into writing or media you may like to consider writing a blog or developing podcasts for the website. If you are more inclined towards research you can support us through your fact finding work or focused reviews on specific issues. If you are artistic then possibly you would like to contribute by designing t-shirts, banners, posters or by producing interesting graffiti, etc. And if you would like to take a step further produce a movement pamphlet and advocate for various issues in public forums like colleges then by all means do that. In nutshell, there is no limit to ways in which you can join and contribute. There is no limit of time and you can help us by translating, writing, running our website, blogging, promoting our work on social media or just by joining our mailing list and coming to our events and supporting our work in which every way you think.
The network runs on donations from supporters and their good will and hence is in no position to pay any honorarium, however, we try and cover all the work related expenses and also provide lunch at the office.
While, this is a voluntary role, it will be an incredible way to enrich your world view by understanding different issues, developing skills on campaigning and political work, gaining experience on organizing and mobilizing people and exploring the potential of your own skills in this work. Not to mention the many exciting opportunities to interact and work with key activists in the country like Medha Patkar, Sandeep Pandey, Prafulla Samantara, Ulka Mahajan, Suniti S R, Gabriele Dietrich, P Chennaiah, Dr. Sunilam, Vimal Bhai, Arundhati Dhuru and many others across the country. You may decide to work at the Delhi Secretariat office, regional offices or from the comfort of your home.

National Alliance of People’s Movements (NAPM) is an alliance of more than 250 grass root people’s struggles in India working on a range of issues related to socio – economic – political - justice and equity. Members affiliated with us are engaged in struggles around the issues of development, displacement, urban and rural planning, environmental concerns, human rights violations, livelihood rights, labour concerns, indiscriminate industrialization, corporate accountability, corruption, governance, electoral reforms and transparency. Internships and Volunteer opportunities are available at our national office Delhi and regional offices in Hyderabad, Bhubaneshwar, Patna, Mumbai, Pune, Vadodara, Surat, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Bangalore and also with specific movements across the country.

Work and reporting structure:
As part of your internship, you will work closely with some of our saathis and sangathans and a dedicated group of volunteers from the NAPM Communications and Documentation team. All your work shall be as per the guidance of the NAPM Internship Co-ordinators.
Specific tasks and responsibilities you will undertake will be jointly discussed and agreed upon at the start of your internship. You will report mainly to the internship coordinator and also work with other team members for specific tasks. You will be given a Task Sheet and an Internship Protocol to follow during the internship period.
Why intern with NAPM:
While interning with NAPM is a voluntary engagement, it is a valuable opportunity to enrich your worldview by understanding different social issues, developing skills on research, campaigning and political work, gaining experience in organizing and exploring the potential of your own skills in this work. You may also have opportunities to interact and work with experienced activists and collectives across the country.
Kindly also note that as an entirely voluntary people’s alliance, NAPM cannot pay any internship stipend / allowance or cover other expenses.
Duration of Internship:
To ensure that we can provide you adequate support and you are able to contribute meaningfully, we request a commitment ideally between 2 and 12 months, either half (4 hours/day) or full-time (8 hours/day) and for 5 or 6 days/week.
Experience certificate:
At the end of your internship period, upon satisfactory completion of the tasks and responsibilities you have taken on and submission of your internship report, you will receive a certificate of experience from NAPM detailing your contribution.
Long-term association:
Interns are always welcome and encouraged to be associated as volunteers with NAPM, on a long-term basis even after the end of their formal period of internship and continue to engage on issues and contribute in different ways.
